Simple. Easy. Delicious
Our vibe is 'bach', so our food fits that. It's simple, delicious, and plentiful. We have no chef, so everyone helps prepare and clean up one meal each. In a group of two or three people, you'll help prepare one meal and do one set of dishes. The rest of the time, someone else cooks for you, and someone else cleans up. Magic.
Breakfast
Easy - you bring your own. You decide if you want to eat at 11.00am or 5.00am, and you bring your favourite breakfast food to look forward to. Is there something you love but don't usually splurge on? Bring that - go on, you won't regret spoiling yourself!
Lunch
Usually a carrier like a wrap, or good bread, or croissants that you fill with what you like from the selection of meats, cheeses, salads, and dressings. So good. And of course there are sweet treats and fruit. Lunch dessert is definitely a thing.
Dinner
A main dish surrounded by a selection of salads and accompaniments. Maybe Mexican, maybe lasagne, maybe a hotpot, maybe pulled pork. Depending on the retreat, we may source our main dish from a local cafe. Dessert might be an apple pie or a pavlova, maybe an apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. Always delicious, always a choice.
Extras
Everyone needs a little extra every now and then, so we have a fruit bowl filled with in-season fruit, and we do a good old-fashioned morning and afternoon tea with delicious hummus with some chopped up veg (yes, I know they're called crudites, but we're at the bach now, not a restaurant), a beautiful loaf from one of Whanganui's famous Savage Bakeries, and a bliss ball or two.
Alcohol
You're welcome to bring a bottle or two. At our first retreat, a guest brought mulled wine to share - feel free to continue this and make it a tradition!
Allergies
If you're allergic to something, please let me know. I'll do my best to make the menu work around it, but we have two small kitchens and group preparation. If you're really worried, it's probably best to bring your own food and prepare it separately. Let's discuss it - flick me an email and we'll find a way that suits and keeps you safe.
Vegetarian/vegan
Again, please let me know. Be aware that, unless the entire group is vegetarian or vegan, meat dishes will be served alongside vegetarian options. Let's discuss it - flick me an email and we'll find a way that suits and keeps your ethics intact and tastebuds happy.
